Support Work Over Welfare by Increasing the Earned Income Tax Credit and Making it Refundable!

The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) provides a tax credit to working families — many working multiple jobs to put food on the table — so more money stays in their pockets for basic necessities like education, food and housing, or an unplanned doctor’s visit and prescription medicine. Making the Ohio EITC refundable means that families who work hard to make between $24,000 and $63,000 per year would get anywhere from $250 to $350 additional dollars back in tax refunds—and that can make a big difference for working folks living paycheck to paycheck.

With Ohio’s state budget negotiations wrapping up on June 30, time is running short to tell your state legislator you’re counting on them to increase the EITC in this year’s budget and make it refundable so more families in Ohio will have a real chance to get ahead and succeed.

Time is running out, so please speak up today.
